Emily Carr, LPC-A

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate Supervised by Katie Yates, LPC-S
(she/her/hers)‍

My name is Emily, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate practicing here in Austin, Texas. I am passionate about working with teenagers, young adults, and adults navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, perfectionism, emotional overwhelm, school and work related stress, and life transitions.

I view therapy as an opportunity for curiosity and collaboration, as I recognize that you are the expert on your own life experiences. My goal is to create a safe and affirming space for you to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors without judgement.

My approach to therapy is weight-inclusive and rooted in Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating principles. Alongside these principles, I incorporate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Reality/Choice Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into our work together.

I aim to support you in gaining emotional awareness, understanding, and acceptance, exploring the function and purpose of behaviors, and taking manageable steps that align with your wants, needs, values, and strengths. I also strive to support those who are wanting to gain practical skills to build non-judgmental present moment awareness, manage reactions to their emotions, and foster and maintain healthy relationships.
