it is always OK to not be OK
Recently, AND LONG OVERDUE, mental health has been in the spotlight. Therapy has become more embraced and encouraged. We are glad you are taking steps towards improving your mental health and we invite you to look around the site and learn about us, who we see, and our approach to therapy.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders often develop as coping strategies. Therapy provides a space to understand the purpose of these behaviors and work to replace them with more adaptive strategies. We take an intuitive eating approach to help clients rebuild their relationships with food and their bodies. We also work through the lens of Health at Every Size (HAES) as this is a critical piece of moving away from a disordered approach to food and one’s body.
Emerging Adulthood
Making the transformation from childhood to adulthood can be full of unknowns, worries, and questions about the future. Often times it is difficult to view the adventure ahead as exciting and accessible, due to fear around making “mistakes”. Anxiety or depression can make these life decisions harder to define and even more challenging to set in motion. Therapy can provide a space to manage these uncomfortable feelings as well as to explore different ways of being, in order to deepen trust in oneself and connection to others.
Reproductive & Women’s Issues
We offer support around issues related to fertility, loss, as well as hormonal and bodily changes. Navigating these challenges can be extremely difficult. Therapy provides a safe space to process feelings related to physical and emotional shifts, as well as help to create healthy coping skills to preserve autonomy, self-care, and connection.
Parent Coaching
Because children do not come with manuals, we often have to seek out guidance and or support to help them during trying periods. It can be immensely helpful to have outside perspective to help problem solve or brainstorm strategies during difficult times. We offer coaching both individually and in group format to help provide support and receive validation with other parents.
Life Transitions
Whether perceived as positive or negative or both, changes throughout our lives can provoke old patterns of behavior and trigger unresolved issues from the past. These evolutions can challenge us to dig deeper, explore old wounds, and provide the opportunity to create lasting growth.
Relationship Issues
Attachments are our most necessary and complex connections to others. Early attachment wounds and trauma can have a great impact on our ability to be vulnerable, authentic, and available to the people in our lives. The therapeutic relationship is one in which these relational issues can be explored, examined, as well as enacted in the room, in order to enhance our comfort, trust, and authenticity in all relationships.
Depression
Depression can be one of the most isolating and hopeless experiences of one’s life. The internal shame and judgement that surrounds these feelings is often unbearable. Reaching out for help, despite these distressing feelings, takes tremendous courage. Therapy can provide a safe place to explore these thoughts and feelings as well as to develop greater compassion for oneself.
Anxiety
Anxiety is part of our daily lives. In small doses, it can make us more productive. However, too much anxiety can be paralyzing. At CALM, we treat anxiety as something that we can learn to live with, not avoid. Our approach to working with anxiety is understanding when it can become debilitating and creating strategies to manage and confront it.

telehealth
All of our therapists are licensed in the state of Texas which means we can see clients remotely who might be anywhere in the state. We also have therapists licensed in Oregon and Massachusetts. Additionally, we have the opportunity to see clients in states participating in Psypact (learn more).
Given how Covid-19 has changed the healthcare landscape, we currently can conduct remote sessions for local Austinites and plan on continuing this long-term.
