Katie Yates, LPC-S
Licensed Professional Counselor
(she/her/hers)
Senior Therapist
I am a licensed professional counselor with over 16 years of experience in the mental health field. I enjoy working with adults, adolescents aged 16+, college aged students, and providing parent coaching for eating disorder support. I view therapy as an invitation to partner with clients and navigate through the uncertainties of life. My approach to counseling is to meet individuals where they are, and I often find that humor and authenticity are gateways to healing. In a world where we are over-stimulated and encouraged to look for a quick fix I see therapy as an opportunity and space to slow down, reflect and lean into our perfectly imperfect selves. I utilize a trauma-informed relational approach to therapy and have been intensively trained in cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. I have had extensive clinical experience in facilitating individual, group, and family counseling at an outpatient eating disorder clinic where I oversaw the Family Based Therapy Program. Most recently I was the Program Coordinator for the Mindful Eating Program at the University of Texas at Austin. I specialize in individuals with eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, anxiety, perfectionism, high achieving presentation, women’s issues, grief, and life transitions. As a seasoned therapist I aim to understand my client’s presenting concerns and empower each client to embark on a journey of self-discovery and emotional wellness.
