Chew on it: Disordered Eating and Attachment Theory-Part 2

*We recommend listening to part 1 before this episode for a better understanding of the concepts discussed

Insecure attachment isn't exclusively a result of your childhood.. We're all becoming a little more insecurely attached and my hope is that in listening to this episode you can feel more comfortable with your discomfort around your peers, seek connection, and heal in community. That said, diet culture IS conducive to community. In other words, we feel we relate to others when we complain about our weight, discuss new diets, and encourage each other to workout. This obviously has its faults, and those who have been harmed by diet culture are desperate for new ways to connect. If this is you, I recommend starting with nutrition counseling and/or eating disorder-informed therapy to become more confident in a non-diet lifestyle so that you don't feel the need to use diet talk as a way to relate to others.
